Srijan and Primarc Representatives Visit Mukti Bio Village and Mukti Gram to Explore Sustainable Rural Development

A two-day visit by representatives from Srijan and Primarc to Mukti Bio Village and Mukti Gram at Purba Sridharpur and Damkal on 25–26 July 2026 provided an opportunity to showcase Mukti’s integrated approach to sustainable rural development while exploring avenues for future collaboration. The visiting delegation included Mr. Pawan from Srijan, Mr. Mahesh Jee from Primarc, and Mr. Binod, who interacted with community members and observed several of Mukti’s ongoing development initiatives across the region.

The visit began at the Jata Burning Ghat in Mukti Bio Village, where the delegation met with local farmers engaged in organic farming practices. During the interaction, discussions centred on the importance of promoting chemical-free agriculture, restoring soil health, and encouraging environmentally sustainable farming methods. Farmers shared their experiences of adopting organic cultivation and spoke about the long-term benefits of reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The conversation also highlighted the need to increase cattle populations to ensure a regular supply of organic manure, a key component of the Bio Village model that supports sustainable agriculture and ecological balance.

The delegation also explored the potential of biogas plants as an effective solution for renewable energy generation and organic waste management. The discussions emphasized how integrating livestock, organic farming, and clean energy can contribute to a circular rural economy while reducing environmental impact and improving the livelihoods of farming communities.

On the second day, the visitors experienced the unique ecosystem of the Sundarbans through a morning boat ride, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s rich biodiversity and the environmental challenges faced by its communities. The programme continued with the inauguration of several community infrastructure projects supported by Srijan, including model houses and newly constructed concrete bathing steps at a community pond, developed to improve sanitation, safety, and the overall quality of life for local residents.

The delegation also inaugurated the Purbasridharpur Burning Ghat, another community asset developed with the support of Srijan, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure through collaborative partnerships. They later visited agroforestry fruit gardens, where Mukti demonstrated its efforts to integrate environmental conservation with sustainable livelihood generation by promoting tree-based farming systems that enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and provide additional sources of income for local families.

The visit concluded with a strategic planning session, during which representatives from Mukti, Srijan, and Primarc exchanged ideas on future development initiatives and discussed opportunities for deeper collaboration. The delegation appreciated Mukti’s holistic, community-centred development model, which combines sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, livelihood promotion, climate resilience, and community participation to create long-term social and ecological impact.

The representatives acknowledged the positive changes brought about through Mukti’s initiatives in the Sundarbans and expressed their commitment to supporting future programmes that strengthen sustainable agriculture, resilient community infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and inclusive rural development. The visit further reinforced the value of collaborative partnerships in advancing shared goals of building resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable communities.
