Mukti organised a Social Accountability Workshop on Health on 13th November 2025 at the Borough V Conference Room, bringing together key stakeholders from the local governance and health systems. The participants included the Borough V Chairperson, Ward Councillors, the Executive Health Officer, and Medical Officers from Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs).
The workshop aimed to strengthen system linkages and bridge the gap between the community and government health services. By ensuring that community members are aware of available public health facilities and how to access them, the initiative seeks to improve overall utilisation of health services and promote accountability in urban health governance.
The session began with a formal introduction between Mukti and Borough representatives, setting the foundation for an open and constructive dialogue. Councillors expressed their willingness to collaborate, creating space for exploring areas of mutual support in both health and child protection initiatives.
A key part of the discussion focused on enhancing communication and coordination among stakeholders. Participants agreed on the need for a follow-up meeting with the Executive Health Officer and Ward-level Medical Officers to chart out next-step actions. The Executive Health Officer also highlighted existing gaps where Mukti’s engagement could add significant value.
In the context of child safeguarding, the Borough V Secretary suggested collaboration between Mukti and CINI, given CINI’s existing role in coordinating the Ward Level Child Protection Committee (WLCPC) and its ongoing experience in ward-level child protection work. This recommendation opened a new avenue for strengthening convergence across sectors.
Mukti shared updates on its ongoing work and emphasised the need for continued support from local authorities, especially in coordinating with police at the ward level. The Chairperson and Councillors assured their cooperation and appreciated Mukti’s efforts in this domain.
Overall, the workshop marked a promising beginning. It laid the groundwork for a collaborative approach to improving community health services and reinforcing child protection mechanisms across Borough V.
