On the occasion of World Ozone Layer Preservation Day, members of the Sundarban Climate Club, an initiative under the Amplifying Community Voices (ACV) Consortium, visited Raidighi College in Mathurapur II Block on 19th September 2025 to engage with students of the Geography Department.
The session was designed to foster dialogue on the intersection of climate change and child rights, while highlighting the urgent need for youth participation in climate action. Club members shared their personal journeys and the initiatives they are leading to address climate change impacts on children and communities in the Sundarbans.
Around 30 students, faculty members, and the Principal of Raidighi College participated in the program, alongside two adolescent leaders and a field team representative from the Climate Club. The interaction encouraged young learners to reflect on the ecological challenges facing their region and inspired them to explore opportunities for collective action.
Speaking on the occasion, the Climate Club members emphasized that protecting the ozone layer and tackling climate change are deeply connected to safeguarding the rights and future of children in vulnerable geographies like the Sundarbans. The session concluded with an open discussion where students expressed interest in collaborating with the Club on future initiatives.
Mukti, through the ACV Consortium, continues to support community-driven platforms such as the Sundarban Climate Club to strengthen youth leadership and build networks for sustainable climate action.
