On 11th August 2025, at the request of Raidighi College, Mukti SURYA organized a Cyber Security Workshop for the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers at the SURYA Centre, Srifaltala, Raidighi College. The initiative aimed to equip volunteers with essential knowledge to stay safe online so that they can, in turn, conduct awareness programmes in Mukti’s adopted villages and help combat the growing threats of cybercrime.
The session began with an insightful address by Dr. Arvinda Shaw, Assistant Professor, Department of Food & Nutrition, Raidighi College, who emphasized the need for responsible digital engagement in today’s interconnected world.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who were introduced to fundamental practices for safeguarding personal information on the internet. As digital interactions become increasingly integral to daily life, the programme highlighted the urgency of educating youth about online risks such as cyber-attacks, phishing, identity theft, and privacy breaches. Volunteers learned how to identify potential threats, create strong passwords, adopt safe browsing habits, and use encryption and two-factor authentication to strengthen online security.
Designed to be interactive, the session featured hands-on activities and real-world examples to illustrate the significance of cyber safety. Volunteers actively engaged with Mukti’s cyber security experts Mr. Soumen Kayal and Mr. Sumit Halder through Q&A sessions and practical exercises, ensuring a thorough grasp of key concepts to protect personal data.
Recognizing the persistent digital divide in rural and semi-urban areas, Mukti SURYA underscored the importance of such awareness programmes in empowering communities. The training concluded with participants expressing a renewed commitment to safeguard their own online presence and to spread cyber safety awareness among community members.
