I am Shreyasi, residing with my father Ananta Karmakar at our ancestral home in Chinarpar village in South 24 Parganas.
My mother, the center of my world till then, fell chronically ill when I was at the tender age of 12. Despite the support of caring relatives, the absence of a mother’s care, especially during the challenging years of puberty, left a void in my life. Deepening that void, my mother left us all after three years of suffering, when I was just 15 years old.
Through the emotional turmoil, I managed to complete my Secondary (school final) exams from Amiya Bala Balika Vidyalaya with a modest second division result, and completed my Higher Secondary education at the same institution.
By the grace of God, and the generosity of my relatives, I found an opportunity to enroll in the BA LLB Course at Jyotirmoy School of Law, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Though I obtained admission and started my course against all odds, the financial struggle was immense, despite the immense cooperation from my extended family.
