A team from Soulace, consisting of Ms. Srabani Roy, Mr. Bacchu Das Khan, and Mr. Sujoy Das, conducted an audit of the MSS (Mukti Support School)project. During the four-day audit, they visited two schools in Canning block, one each in Basanti and Jaynagar I blocks and five schools in the Sagar block.
The objective of the visit was to gain a better understanding of the MSS project in terms of operation and functional issues such as students’ requirements, parents’ expectations and overall functioning.
The audit team interviewed 15 students, five guardians, and five teachers at each MSS. The two field coordinators, Mr. Monojit Modal of Canning and Mr. Dipak Payra of Sagar block, accompanied and assisted the team throughout their visit.
Apart from individual interviews, they discussed several topics in an open forum. The topics included teacher-student relationships, teaching techniques, teachers’ opinions for further developing MSS, fee structures, perceived benefits for parents, increasing the number of teachers, exam procedures, and guardian meetings.
After visiting the centers and interacting with the teachers, students and parents the team provided positive feedback. Specific changes were recommended in some aspects.
