Navigating Gender and Sex in Value Education

Mukti, along with training partner “Vivek Pathe”, organized value education sessions for Mukti Support School (MSS) teachers. The third module, held from August 19th to 28th, 2023, focused on the basics of gender and sex. 106 teachers from 4 MSS branches participated.

The first module (Introductory) prompted teachers to reflect on their reasons for joining the program and their expectations. Tangible and intangible issues were discussed, fostering emotional and social consciousness. Childhood memories were shared, highlighting relationships with past educators.

The second module (Sex and Gender Identification) explored sex and gender identification. Participants drew male or female figures, discussing perceptions. The fluidity of gender and the biological nature of sex were explored. The participants were given the idea that patriarchy is just as bad as matriarchy and so we want a just society and not any exploitative system. The discussion emphasized societal harmony over rigid systems.

These sessions left a lasting impact, planting seeds of awareness and transformative thinking among MSS educators.
