Mukti has won the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Social Impact Award 2023 in two categories: one for the Cyclone Tolerant House in the Environment and another for the Swabalamban Accelerator in Sundarban (SWAS) project in Employment Enhancement. The ceremony was organized by ICC on March 16th, 2023 at Hotel Taj Bengal in Kolkata. This award is special as it acknowledges Mukti’s exemplary work in the NGO sector and the effectiveness of the organization’s activities in improving the lives of the people it serves at a national level.
Mr. Sankar Halder, Founder President of Mukti, and Mr. Madhusudhan Bairagi, Mukti BOD Trustee member represented the organization. This time, the implementation team was also brought on stage to take the award, as they are the real-time changes. Mr. Raghunath Bairagi – project co-coordinator of Mukti Community Development Fund (MCDF), Mr. Ujjwal Maity, Program Manager of Livelihood and Environment, and Mrs. Manasi Halder, President of MCDF attended the event from the SWAS project, which was supported by SIDBI. From the Cyclone Tolerant House project, which was supported by Srijan Realty Pvt Ltd, and NABC, Mr. Udit Mittal, Mrs. Sangita Kapoor, and Mr. Laurent Fournier graced the event as they were the main architects behind the designing of Cyclone Tolerant houses.
The program started at 10 am and continued till 4 pm. ICC announced the ‘Social Impact Award 2023’ to recognize the excellence of organizations in the sphere of social investment, CSR, and sustainability for the year 2020 – 2021. Among the 11 categories, MUKTI had applied under the Environment Sustainability and Employment Enhancing Vocational Skills categories. There were 4 rounds, including application submission, shortlisting, and presentation. Mukti grabbed the winning title for the Cyclone Tolerant House project under the Environment Sustainability category and the runner-up position under the Employment Enhancing Vocational Skills category. Mukti has been chosen as the best organization amongst 60 participants in the said categories.
Entries were judged by a panel of corporate, agency, and academic executives, as well as ICC and knowledge partner Consultivo. The jury committee evaluated the entries based on creativity, innovation, planning, implementation, and impactful outcomes of the project.
The award committee comprised a chairperson and five members of eminent business leaders, management experts, social and sustainability professionals, and one senior sustainability professional from Consultivo.
