On 18th September 2025, a special Sponsor Student Meeting under Mukti’s Talented Students Sponsorship (TSS) program was held at the Mukti City Office in Garia. The session, running from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, was graced by Ms. Ramya Nageswaran, a long-time supporter of Mukti, accompanied by her friend Ms. Rinkoo Bhowmik.
Representing Mukti TSS were Ms. Pampa Karmakar, Mr. Soumen Bhattacharya, and Mr. Sudip Karmakar, while three continuing TSS scholars — Priangshu Chakraborty, Sagar Haldar, and Debangan Mistri — actively participated in the meeting.
Ms. Nageswaran is a lawyer-turned-social entrepreneur who lived in Singapore for 25 years, where she emerged as a leading voice in the non-profit sector. In 2001, she founded one of Asia’s earliest giving circles and later co-founded BridgeAble in 2013, a consulting initiative in the philanthropic space. She also holds a Master’s degree in Counselling from Monash University, Australia. Since 2017, she has been closely associated with Mukti, supporting the education of talented yet underprivileged students. Recently, she relocated to New Delhi.
The participating students also shared their journeys. Priangshu Chakraborty, a 4th-year Computer Science & Engineering student at the Government College of Engineering & Leather Technology, comes from a farming family in Uttar Taldi, South 24 Parganas, and dreams of pursuing higher studies in technology. Sagar Haldar, an English Honours student at Raidighi College, hails from a humble family where his father works as a fish seller. He aspires to become a school teacher to extend education to underprivileged children. Debangan Mistri, from Raidighi, is preparing for medical entrance examinations (NEET) with the goal of becoming a doctor to serve society.
The students shared their personal struggles, financial challenges, and future aspirations with sincerity. Ms. Nageswaran listened with deep attention and offered valuable advice on resilience, focus, and perseverance in education. She also proposed the idea of arranging monthly online meetings to provide continuous mentorship and encouragement to the students.
The Sponsor Student Meeting on 18th September 2025 proved to be an inspiring and meaningful platform for exchange, strengthening the bond between sponsors, students, and Mukti. Such gatherings not only motivate students but also create an environment of mutual learning and support within the Mukti TSS family.
