The Mukti Talented Student Sponsorship (TSS) team organized a virtual meeting on May 10th, 2025, between Mr. Anirban Banerjee and his sponsored students — Humaira Khatun and Arnab Manna — to discuss their academic progress and future aspirations.
About Arnab Manna
Arnab Manna, from Uttarbar village in the Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal, lives in a family of four with his father, Shri Navendu Manna, mother, Smt. Barnali Manna, and a younger brother. His father, a farmer, is the sole breadwinner, while his mother is a homemaker. Managing household expenses along with educational costs has been a significant challenge for the family.
Arnab is currently pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology, Kolkata. Due to financial constraints, he faced difficulties in continuing his studies. He has been receiving support from the Mukti Talented Student Sponsorship (TSS) program since 2019. With MUKTI’s assistance, Arnab has been able to continue his education without financial stress and is deeply grateful for the support.
During the meeting, Arnab informed Mr. Anirban Banerjee that he is in the final year of his B.Tech program. When asked about his future plans, he mentioned that if he is unable to secure campus placement, he would consider pursuing a master’s degree, and possibly a PhD. Mr. Banerjee advised that a master’s degree would be a good option, though he expressed some reservations about pursuing a PhD. At the end of the discussion, Mr. Banerjee encouraged Arnab to share his resume with him for further guidance and support. Arnab expressed his sincere thanks to the TSS Mukti team and his sponsor, Mr. Anirban Banerjee, for their continued support throughout his journey.
About Humaira Khatun
Humaira Khatun, from Mallickpur village in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, lives with her father, mother, two younger sisters, and a younger brother. Her father earns a modest income by operating a cycle garage near the local market, while her stepmother is a homemaker. The family has limited financial means.
Humaira is currently pursuing an MBBS degree at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. Her total educational expenses amount to around ₹1,98,000 per year, including college fees, tuition, hostel charges, and books. Despite their limited financial means, her parents have always prioritized their children’s education. However, the increasing cost of medical education has become a major burden for the family.
To continue her studies, Humaira applied for the Mukti Talented Student Sponsorship (TSS) program and has been receiving the scholarship since 2021. She is deeply thankful to MUKTI, whose support has significantly eased her financial burden and allowed her to focus on her education.
During the meeting, Humaira engaged in a meaningful conversation with Mr. Anirban Banerjee. He offered strategic guidance regarding her future academic path, encouraging her to identify specific areas of interest for higher studies and to explore broader challenges in the field of medical science. Mr. Banerjee also advised her to consider applying for international scholarships to support her higher education abroad. Humaira expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating that without this support, continuing her MBBS would have been extremely difficult. She thanked the TSS Mukti team and her sponsor, Mr. Anirban Banerjee, for standing by her side throughout this journey.
