In our supplementary coaching program, we work primarily with first-generation learners — students who are often forging a path that no one in their family has taken before. Their journey is rarely easy. Many face a lack of encouragement at home, limited life skills, low self-esteem, and sometimes, bullying or social exclusion. To support and empower them, we have introduced a Star Sticker System — a simple, visible, yet highly effective approach to inspire, recognize, and build confidence in our students.
*Why Stickers?*
Children from underprivileged backgrounds often miss out on positive recognition. A small sticker may seem trivial, but the sparkle it brings to their eyes shows its true value. These stickers validate their effort, behavior, or personal growth — and become badges of honor they proudly show to friends, teachers, and even family members. Over time, the stickers become symbols of self-improvement and resilience.
*Each Star Matters*
🔴 Red Star (Overall Progress – Monthly):
Awarded once a month to recognize holistic development — including academics, attendance, behavior, and engagement.
🟢 Green Star (Co-curricular Participation – Twice Monthly):
Given for participation in non-academic activities, this star encourages confidence, creativity, and the joy of learning.
🌸 Pink Star (Compassionate & Caring – Monthly):
Honors kindness, helpfulness, and emotional intelligence. It teaches that being a good human being is just as important as academic success.
🔵 Royal Blue Star (Class Participation – Weekly):
Awarded weekly to encourage regular attendance, active engagement, and inquisitiveness in the classroom.
🔷 Indigo Star (Leadership – Teacher’s Discretion):
Given to students who take initiative, help peers, or take responsibility — emphasizing that leadership means creating a positive impact.
*A Purposeful Tool for Teachers*
Teachers distribute these stickers with thoughtful consideration, focusing not only on achievement but also on effort and improvement. This inclusive approach ensures that every student has the opportunity to be recognized and motivated. It helps foster a classroom environment that is both encouraging and empathetic.
* The Goals of the Star Sticker System:
* Boost self-confidence and self-worth
* Promote positive peer relationships
* Improve school attendance
* Cultivate values of empathy, participation, and leadership
* Create a safe and motivating learning environment
These stickers are more than just rewards — they are symbols of identity, hope, and accomplishment. Through consistent recognition and care, we believe our students will overcome their challenges and grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.
