The Bandh Banchao Committee (River Embankment Protection Committee), operating as part of the Amplifying Community Voices (ACV) project, has embarked on a mission to safeguard river embankments. In a proactive response to climate change challenges, the members of this committee are launching a climate resilience action plan. On the countryside slope of the river embankment, they have initiated the plantation of dragon plants, while the riverside slope is being strengthened with vetiver grass plantations.
They have set the wheels in motion with the installation of sturdy concrete poles for the dragon plants. This initial phase of the project focuses on a specific segment of the river embankment in the Kuemuri and Heramba Gopalpur Villages. 200 concrete poles will be carefully positioned to support the Dragon plants which are to play a significant role in fortifying the region’s climate resilience.
