Mukti’s SURYA Project, under its collaborative learning initiative between the Education and Health projects, conducted a Cyber Security Workshop for the Swastha Shongini group at the Mukti City Office in Kolkata on 8th May 2025.
The workshop aimed to equip Swastha Shongini members—community-based health workers—with essential digital safety knowledge and practical skills to help them navigate the online world securely. With increasing digital engagement in personal and professional spheres, especially among frontline workers, cyber security has become a critical area of awareness.
Participants were introduced to core concepts of cyber safety, including how to identify online threats such as phishing scams, identity theft, malware, and privacy breaches. The session emphasized the importance of strong passwords, safe browsing habits, and the use of tools like encryption and two-factor authentication.
Interactive elements, including real-life examples and hands-on activities, made the session engaging and easy to understand. The training encouraged active participation and discussion, ensuring the content was accessible regardless of the participants’ prior digital exposure.
The workshop also highlighted the urgent need for digital literacy in rural and semi-urban areas, where the digital divide remains a challenge. By empowering health workers with cyber security knowledge, Mukti is not only safeguarding individuals but also strengthening community resilience in the digital age.
Participants left the session with increased confidence in protecting their personal information and a deeper understanding of the importance of online safety. The workshop concluded with a strong sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm for further learning.
