In a remarkable effort to bring essential healthcare services to the underserved communities, MUKTI, a prominent non-profit organization, hosted a special health and awareness initiative at the Sundarban Mela 2025. The event, held on January 9th, brought together health professionals, local residents, and volunteers for a day focused on general well-being and cancer prevention.
The Mela saw two key medical camps that aimed to provide vital health services to the community. A general health check-up camp was set up in collaboration with the Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Child Care Centre. Two experienced doctors from the centre were present to conduct thorough screenings, offering free consultations to a large number of individuals, ensuring that participants received the necessary care and advice on maintaining good health.
Alongside this, a cancer screening camp was set up in partnership with the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Cancer Hospital. One doctor from the renowned cancer hospital provided essential screenings, helping to identify early signs of cancer among participants. A total of approximately 200 individuals were screened between both camps, gaining valuable insights into their health status.
In addition to the health check-up camps, the Mela featured a special awareness session on cancer prevention and the importance of early screening. The session was held on stage and drew significant attention from the crowd. Health experts discussed various preventive measures for cancer, the benefits of early detection, and how regular screenings can save lives. The interactive session aimed to educate the local community about the growing importance of cancer awareness, especially in rural areas where such information is often scarce.
MUKTI, known for its commitment to social welfare, continues to focus on improving healthcare access in the Sundarban region. By collaborating with esteemed health centres like the Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Child Care Centre and the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Cancer Hospital, MUKTI is actively working to raise awareness, provide critical health services, and ultimately, improve the quality of life for the community.
