Mukti Support Schools (MSS) observed Republic Day on 26 January across multiple locations as part of their continued efforts to promote constitutional awareness, civic responsibility, and collective participation among children from marginalized communities. The observances took place across different regions, from Jharmatiyali in Lataguri to Khansaheb Abad in Sagar Island, reinforcing a shared sense of national identity and belonging.
The celebrations were designed as meaningful learning opportunities to help children understand the significance of the Indian Constitution and the core values it upholds, including equality, justice, dignity, unity, and responsibility. Programmes across schools began with flag hoisting and flag respect ceremonies in the presence of teachers and project staff. Students participated actively in collective singing of the National Anthem, recitation of the Preamble, and simple cultural presentations such as patriotic songs, poems, and drawings.
Teachers facilitated short discussions and interactive sessions to explain the relevance of Republic Day and the Constitution in everyday life, particularly in ensuring rights and opportunities for all citizens. Children from nearby villages were also included in several locations, reflecting Mukti’s inclusive and community-oriented approach.
Despite geographical and logistical challenges in remote and riverine areas, students participated with discipline, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of collective spirit. The programmes concluded with the distribution of sweets, creating a positive and celebratory atmosphere that encouraged joy and participation.
The Republic Day observances served as effective platforms for experiential civic learning, enabling children to engage with national values beyond the classroom. Such initiatives are integral to Mukti’s child-centric and rights-based educational approach, nurturing informed, confident, and socially aware young citizens while strengthening connections between schools and their surrounding communities.
