On 4th October 2025, during a visit to Mukti Support Schools at Jharmatiyali and Changmari villages in Lataguri, Jalpaiguri, interactions were held with the teachers who have been working tirelessly to educate children from economically weaker tea garden communities.
Despite limited means and infrastructural challenges, the teachers at these support schools have been providing consistent learning support to local children, ensuring that education continues even in remote areas. Their commitment reflects Mukti’s broader goal of extending quality education to underprivileged communities across West Bengal.
Shortly after the visit, the region was hit by a severe storm accompanied by relentless rainfall. The Jaldhaka River embankment broke, resulting in widespread flooding across nearby villages. The floodwaters caused significant damage to homes and property, and reports indicated that several wild animals—including deer, rhinos, and elephants—were displaced and took shelter in the tea gardens.
Even after suffering personal losses due to the flood, the teachers have resumed classes at their respective centres, demonstrating exceptional resilience and dedication to their students. Their continued efforts stand as a strong example of Mukti’s mission in action—ensuring that education remains uninterrupted even during times of crisis.
Mukti expresses deep appreciation for the teachers of Jharmatiyali and Changmari Support Schools, whose determination and sense of responsibility continue to inspire the community and strengthen the organization’s vision for inclusive education.
