Integrated Teacher Upskilling & Child Safeguarding Training

On the morning of August 3rd, 2025, Mukti Support Schools (MSS) organized a comprehensive day-long capacity-building session for English and Bengali subject teachers from ten MSS centres under Mathurapur-I block. The training was conducted at Krishnachandrapur High School and witnessed the active participation of 20 dedicated Muktisathi educators.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Ananya Chatterjee, Senior Programme Manager, with a clear focus on strengthening subject-specific pedagogy and promoting more engaging, inclusive, and contextually relevant teaching practices.

Key Focus Areas of the Subject Training:

1. Effective Lesson Planning and Classroom Management
2. Activity-Based and Participatory Language Teaching Techniques
3. Incorporation of Inclusive and Learner-Centric Approaches
4. Use of Local Context, Culture, and Storytelling to Make Lessons Relatable and Impactful

Participants explored innovative strategies to improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes, using real-life examples and collaborative activities.

Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) Session

In the afternoon, a focused session on Mukti’s Child Safeguarding Policy was conducted by Ms. Nandita Jayraman and Ms. Monami Mitra, senior team members from Mukti’s Child Protection team.

This segment aimed to:

• Ensure all educators are well-informed about Mukti’s child safeguarding norms.
• Reinforce understanding of children’s rights and their protection in educational spaces.
• Clarify the reporting and escalation mechanisms in case of any safeguarding concerns or violations.

Educators participated in group exercises, real-life case discussions, and role-plays to internalize the policy and understand their roles in upholding child safety.

This integrated training session not only enhanced the pedagogical competencies of MSS educators in English and Bengali but also significantly strengthened their responsibility in creating a safe and nurturing school environment.

The dual focus—on quality education and child protection—reflects Mukti’s holistic approach to rural education reform. With educators now better equipped with tools for inclusive teaching and safeguarding, this marks an important step forward in ensuring both academic excellence and student well-being across MSS centres.
