As part of the Mukti Support School Programme, two impactful training workshops were conducted at Purba Surendranagar Govt. High School on 19th and 20th July. Each day brought together 25 teachers from 14 Mukti Support Schools to explore innovative, context-driven teaching methods designed to make learning more relevant and engaging.
On the 19th, English and Bengali teachers gathered to reimagine language education. Through collaborative activities and real-world applications, they discovered how to weave local culture, community stories, and lived experiences into literature and language lessons. This approach not only made learning more relatable but also empowered teachers to foster deeper connections with students.
The following day, 25 History and Geography teachers came together to explore participatory, inquiry-based teaching methods. They engaged in exercises that linked textbook content to history, geography, and current events, using tools like maps, case studies, and environmental simulations. This hands-on, context-driven approach enables teachers to make complex concepts more accessible and engaging, enhancing student participation and critical thinking.
Both workshops emphasized the value of grounding education in local contexts, offering teachers strategies to make learning more dynamic and connected to students’ everyday lives. By equipping educators with these modern pedagogical tools, the programme is helping shape classrooms that inspire curiosity and cultivate informed, responsible citizens.
These sessions are a testament to the power of locally-driven education and the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future of their communities. Thanks to the facilitators, coordinators, and participants, these workshops represent a significant step toward educational transformation.
