Mukti, under its SWAS 2.0 project, successfully concluded two vital skill development trainings this April—Food Processing and Shola Set Making—aimed at empowering rural women across South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
Food Processing Trade Empowers 96 Women across Three Locations
Three intensive training sessions in food processing were conducted in Digambarpur, Gourdaha, and Basanti branches, collectively reaching 96 rural women.
The training focused on enabling participants to turn locally available resources into marketable food products, thereby fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
A parallel initiative in Shola Set Making was held at the Jalaberiya Branch from April 5 to April 14, with 50 rural women receiving training in crafting decorative items from shola pith—a traditional Bengali craft material. The training combined artistic skill development with knowledge of sustainable sourcing, modern design trends, and access to market opportunities.
These skill development initiatives are part of Mukti’s broader vision to enhance the livelihoods of rural women by equipping them with sustainable, income-generating skills. The completion of these trades not only promotes economic independence but also contributes to preserving local heritage and encouraging community-based entrepreneurship.
Mukti extends heartfelt congratulations to all participants and expresses gratitude to its partners, trainers, and volunteers who made these programs possible.
Together, we empower. Together, we build.
