To bridge the educational gap and enhance technological literacy in the marginalized regions of the Sundarbans, Mukti and Fortess, an organization formed by ex-employees of TCS, joined forces. Together, they embarked on a noble mission to establish a Smart Computer Lab in Krishnachandrapur High School of Mathurapur Block I, as part of their commitment to giving back to society.
This initiative aimed to address the socio-economic challenges faced by the marginalized communities in the region. Recognizing the limited access to quality education and modern technology, especially in remote areas, the Smart Lab was envisioned as a pillar of hope for the youth.
Krishnachandrapur High School, renowned for its academic excellence, was chosen as the ideal location for the lab. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the lab boasted twenty computers loaded with the latest software and hardware specifications. High-speed internet connectivity provided students with access to online resources and interactive learning platforms, while versatile educational software tailored to various subjects enhanced learning outcomes.
Furthermore, a curated collection of e-books, videos, and interactive tutorials supplemented the traditional curriculum, enriching students’ learning experiences. A dedicated and well-trained faculty was appointed to guide and support students in utilizing these resources effectively.
The impact of this initiative was profound. Meritorious students, previously deprived of exposure to modern teaching methodologies, could now explore a diverse range of educational resources. This not only enhanced their academic performance but also narrowed the digital divide between the privileged and underprivileged sections of society.
The inauguration of the Smart Computer Lab on the bright morning of April 13th, 2024, was a momentous occasion. Dignitaries including S. Ramadorai, President of Fortess, Ajoy Mukherjee, S. Mahalingam, R. Chandrashekharan, Vijaya Dipti, and Mrs. Chadni, alongside prominent figures from Mukti and government officials, graced the ceremony. The President of Mukti, Sankar Halder, and other key figures from the organization, along with the school’s Headmaster Chandan Maity, were also present.
Following the inauguration, a precisely planned ceremony unfolded, featuring a guard of honor conferred by a well-trained NCC cadet and a grand felicitation of the guests with intricately crafted leafy crowns and badges made by the skilled workers of Mukti village. The event left a lasting impression, filling the hearts of all present with joy and serving as a testament to the power of collective action in driving positive change.
