Panel discussions in a seminar always creates a space for meaningful interactions between the audience and the experts/leaders and invariably a churning of thoughts and ideas take place during such exercise that becomes enriching for all, participating in such interactions.
The Panel discussion that took place on 9th March 2025, the day on which Mukti commemorated it’s 21st Foundation Day along with its Annual General Meeting, was no exception. Some of the leading Social workers of the country who have been spearheading this organization, taking questions from an enlightened audience and answering them with deep and insightful ideas, was indeed a very engrossing event of the entire programme.
Glimpses of the interactions that took place that afternoon.
Q1: As Mukti expands its reach to new areas and attracts more people, how will these new members align with the organization’s core principles and values?
A1:
“As Mukti expands its reach, strategic steps are being taken to ensure that new members align with our core principles and values. We view the challenges faced by others as our own. To address these effectively, we have adjusted our organizational structure to support growth and ensure that everyone joining our mission understands and embodies our values.”
Q2: What common values should we uphold in our work and personal lives?
A2:
“Self-discipline and adherence to rules are crucial. A child’s environment plays a pivotal role in their development. We must raise awareness about this and encourage parents and teachers to work together to create environments where values such as responsibility and discipline are instilled from an early age.”
Q3: Mukti’s work was primarily focused on rural areas, but now Mukti has started working in urban areas as well. How will you manage the integration of rural and urban areas in your projects?
A3:
“The challenges faced by both rural and urban areas are fundamentally similar. However, urban areas, due to the higher concentration of migrants, often face more vulnerable conditions. Urban areas require more empathy, and we need to focus on imparting values, skill development, and cultural activities. By approaching these efforts with empathy and morality, we can integrate rural and urban communities effectively.”
Q4: What plans does Mukti have for future leadership and skill development?
A4:
“Fostering future leadership is a collective responsibility. Every one of us is a role model, whether we work on the ground or in the office. It is vital that we continue to develop skills and mentor future leaders, ensuring that they are equipped to carry forward Mukti’s mission with dedication and passion.”
Q5: In the current times, most social activities are demand-driven. However, rights-based initiatives are also an important aspect of social work. How will Mukti balance these aspects in the future?
A5:
“At Mukti, we believe in ensuring every individual’s right to education, food, and essential services. Our work is deeply rooted in securing these rights for all. However, we acknowledge that fighting for rights may sometimes create opposition. We believe in protesting the right way, ensuring that we achieve our goals with honesty, integrity, and love, always staying true to our mission.”
Q6: How will Mukti convey its values to the grassroots level?
A6:
“Mukti collaborates with both state and central governments to address the needs of marginalized communities. For those whom the government has not yet reached, we are working tirelessly to fill that gap. With strengthened resolve and unity, we will continue to work for the most marginalized sections of society, ensuring they are not left behind.”
As the day-long event was coming to an end, a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment prevailed with the light slowly fading out from the day but the spirit and resolve to serve the needy and bring changes to the society only getting stronger through such collective efforts.
