In an effort to promote sustainable farming practices and empower local farmers, a specialized training camp was held on 7th March 2025 at the Mukti Bio-Village Office, Kankandighi. The event saw the participation of 35 farmers, who received valuable insights on organic farming and fish farming techniques.
Organized by Mukti in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, the training aimed to equip the farmers with essential knowledge and practical skills that can help them improve their agricultural productivity while maintaining environmental sustainability.
The primary focus of the session was on organic farming, with expert trainers providing valuable guidance on how to cultivate crops without the use of harmful chemicals. Participants learned about soil health, natural pest control, and eco-friendly methods to enhance crop yields. The training emphasized the importance of using indigenous knowledge and sustainable practices to ensure long-term agricultural productivity.
In addition to organic farming, the training also highlighted the potential of fish farming as a supplementary income source. Farmers were educated on how to incorporate fish farming into their existing agricultural activities by using ponds. The training covered various fish farming techniques, including the cultivation of magur, shingi, and jeol fish, as well as the benefits of crab farming.
By incorporating fish farming into their livelihood, farmers can not only diversify their income but also promote eco-friendly and integrated farming systems. The training emphasized the use of traditional, indigenous technology to ensure sustainable fish farming practices while keeping environmental factors in mind.
Through such programs, Mukti continues to support the local farming community by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the modern agricultural landscape, promoting both sustainability and economic growth in the region.
This training session marks another step towards Mukti’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of farmers and fostering a more sustainable, self-reliant community.
