On January 11, 2025, the annual event of the Mukti Community Development Fund (MCDF), took place at Sundarban Mela with great enthusiasm. This year’s event saw the participation of around 2,000 women from 32 branches of the project, highlighting its reach and impact.
The event was hosted by Smt. Mahamaya Bhowmik, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee, who welcomed the guests to the stage. The distinguished attendees included the chief initiator of the project and a founding member of Mukti, Hon. Bishwanath Mondal, senior members of the Central Committee, the chairpersons of the 32 branches, and the headmaster of Krishnachandrapur High School, Hon. Chandan Maiti.
Following the warm welcome, the program kicked off with a performance of the inaugural song by Bani Bhattacharya. One by one, the leaders of the 32 branches proudly raised their flags, symbolizing unity and strength within the community.
In his opening speech, Mr. Bishwanath Mondal emphasized the progress of the project and the importance of women’s empowerment. The event took a vibrant turn with a series of dance performances by children, particularly the graceful performances by Priyanka Jana, Deepti Mukherjee, and Nandini Mondal, which added an enchanting charm to the celebration.
The Chairperson of the Central Committee, Ms. Manasi Halder, delivered an inspiring speech stressing the significance of women’s empowerment and the need to continue striving for societal improvement. Her words encouraged everyone to contribute more towards the community’s growth.
A key segment of the event was the award ceremony, where the leaders and branches that had made significant contributions were honoured. The awards recognized the extraordinary efforts of women leaders in driving the project’s mission forward.
The event also featured a socially-conscious dance-drama aimed at raising awareness about domestic violence and promoting a message of resistance. Additionally, the Vigyan Mancha presented a play illustrating how superstitions and deceitful practices by tantriks and religious figures continue to mislead and exploit vulnerable people, offering valuable lessons for the audience.
The event concluded with a powerful play performed by women from the MCDF, leaving a deep emotional impact on all present. The entire program was a celebration of social awareness, unity, and empowerment, inspiring everyone to work together for a brighter future.
