Youth Committee Formation Meeting

Mukti has formed “Mukti Youth Committee” in 4 villages of Purba Sridharpur – Purba Srdharpur Purbapara, Purba Srdharpur Paschimpara, Sarkarpara and Samantapara with the objective of engaging the rural youth of Sundarbans for the development of the village as well as the community. These groups are comprised of a collection of young people who come together to offer input and provide insight into the needs of the youth in the community. The imitative has been taken for youth involvement and inclusion in decision-making which will help to keep them engaged in their community. Keeping them engaged in positive activities gives youth a safe outlet and a way to connect with peers and other positive role models in their community.

To aware these youth committees of their working methods, organizational characteristics of the committee and objectives Mukti organized a meeting at the Mukti Library on 5^th July 2022. The meeting has been attended by 11-13 members of the Purba Sridharpur Purbapara youth committee. On behalf of Mukti the working committee members – Mr. Chttaranjan Halder, Mr. Bijoy Krishna Halder and Mukti office staff Mr. Harisadhan Mondal, Mr. Pintu Halder, Mr. Rajat Mondal and Mr. Gourishankar have conducted the meeting.

The topics that have been discussed in the meeting are –

• The youth committee will work at the grassroots level. They will carry out the development work in the village.
• Members will hold a volunteer position.
• They will have to submit a drafted resolution copy of the work to Mukti central committee. Mukti central committee will recommend the resolution to the Mukti Gram office. The office will approve the proposal and according to the compatibility, Mukti will set a specific budget.
• The governing body of the committee will be elected by the members through the ballot. The committee will have a president, a secretary, a treasurer etc. Every year the governing body will change through the ballot. They will also decide on the participation and expulsion of the members of the committee by their own consent.
• The committee will conduct meetings regularly and develop its course of direction.
• Members will have to maintain good grades and a positive attitude.
• All the activities proposed by the Youth Committee will be administrated by Mukti.

Soon Mukti will conduct meetings with other youth groups too.
