Village Development and Planning Meeting Was Organized by Mukti

For the development of the villages under Nagendrapur Gram Panchayat Mukti organized a meeting at Purba Sridharpur on Sunday 25^th July 2021. The discussion started at 2 PM and continued till 4 PM. Under this planning scheme, 18 villages of Nagendrapur GP have been included.

The main objective of this meeting was to assess the quality of life in the villages of Nagendrapur Gram Panchayat and suggest ways and means to improve the same.

Local BJP leaders, joint secretary of Mukti, the co-president of Nagendrapur GP Mr. Joybhusan Bhandari, President of Nagendrapur GP Ms. Morjina Gaji, 7 volunteers of Mukti, 4 Mukti core committee members, Mr. Panchugopal Halder,  regional President Mr. Pradip Mondal, and the association member of Nagendrapur GP Mr. Tapas Mondal attended the meeting.

The important issues for rural development that were discussed in the meeting are-

1. Proposed strategies for sustainable rural roads maintenance has been discussed in the meeting. The concrete and the unpaved roads made of bricks need to be reconstructed as they had been damaged at various locations, leaving commuters to suffer, especially during the rainy days.
2. There is a severe drinking water crisis in most parts of the Sundarbans. The salinity in drinking water is much higher than the desired limit. In this situation, a solution for smart and sustainable drinking water management is required to give access to safe and affordable drinking water. To eliminate the problem Mukti with the support of the West Bengal Government decided to dig some freshwater ponds and cannels.
3. The Sundarbans is an energy deficient region and many villages are yet to be connected to the conventional power grid. With the prime goal of lightening up the roads through electric-powered energy access, Mukti will install street lights at every corner of the villages.
4. After the cyclone, Amphan and Yaas Sundarban has suffered serious losses of trees. For the existence of the island and for the protection of the environment tree plantation is very much necessary. Mukti has taken the initiative to plant lakhs of trees including Mangrove which will act as a coping mechanism against cyclones and tidal waves.
