Here is a great and exciting news! The Government of India has signed off the funding for the coconut tree plantation project in the Sunderbans, West Bengal under Mukti-India. This is by far one of the largest projects undertaken by a local NGO and supported by the central government. The project would be supported by NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) under Government of India.
The coconut plantation project has been going on in full swing and significant progress has already been made including stuff training, composed fertilizer preparation, coconut seeds and seedling procurement.
This project will have tremendous economical as well as ecological impact, generating approximately 25000 man days of direct employment and much more indirectly. This will definitely help boost the local economy within a few years time.
This is indeed a significant achievement for Mukti as this is the first time that NREGA has supported a project sponsored by a NGO in West Bengal. The highest level government officials have shown much interest since the project has immense potential. Needless to say that this would serve as a model project in future for Mukti.
Now the real challenge lies in the successful implementation of the project. I would urge everyone to come forward and get involve to make the project a huge success. We need help from all of you.
Once again, let us take this opportunity to thank to all well-wishers of Mukti, who are constantly helping us with their generous support and encouraging us to do even better. This could have not possible without your help and guidance. We request everyone to continue supporting Mukti in future. Please help us to make a better society for everyone.
