Swastho Shongini Project: Supervisors Elected through Participatory Voting Process

On June 12, 2024, healthcare professionals from the Swastho Shongini project gathered in Raidighi to elect their supervisors through a participatory voting process. A total of 24 Swastho Shongini members cast their votes for the nominated candidates, resulting in the selection of four supervisors.

Supervision is crucial in ensuring the high-quality performance of healthcare providers and the services they deliver. Supportive feedback is highly valued by health providers, serving as a key motivator in their work.

Role of a Supervisor:

Building close links with the community.

• Identifying, with stakeholders, standards of good performance.
• Working with staff to periodically assess their performance against these standards.
• Providing feedback to staff about their performance.
• Collaborating with staff and the community to identify and implement changes that enhance staff performance and the quality of services delivered.

In alignment with the Swastho Shongini action area of Mukti, four supervisors were chosen for four regions: Raidighi (Hub-1), Krishnachandrapur (Hub-2), Jaynagar (Hub-3), and Patharpratima (Hub-4). Under each supervisor, a group of five members was formed, collectively working to cover 12 Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the South 24 Parganas district. The team of supervisors began working in July 2024.
