In striving for inclusive development, Mukti conducted two Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) meetings on 23rd and 24th April 2024 within the framework of the SWAS 2.0 project, supported by the “Small Industries Development Bank of India” (SIDBI). These gatherings, held in Jalaberiya Village of Kultali Block and Kuyemuri Village of Patharpratima Block, aimed to bridge the gap between rural communities and development programs.
With a total of 108 villagers actively participating, these meetings served as platforms for dialogue, engagement, and shared decision-making. Through the utilization of various PRA tools such as social mapping, community resource mapping, well-being or wealth ranking, need mapping, and problem tree analysis, Mukti facilitated comprehensive community involvement.
Social mapping enabled villagers to visually represent their community structures, relationships, and resources, providing insights into social dynamics. Community resource mapping helped identify local assets and potential areas for development intervention. Well-being or wealth ranking allowed villagers to prioritize needs and aspirations based on their perceived importance.
Additionally, need mapping enabled the identification of specific challenges and opportunities within the community, while problem tree analysis helped dissect root causes of issues and formulate actionable solutions.
By employing these participatory methods, Mukti empowered villagers to voice their perspectives, share local knowledge, and actively contribute to the planning and management of development projects. Through collaborative efforts, the SWAS 2.0 project aims to create sustainable impact and improve livelihoods in rural areas, ensuring that development initiatives resonate with the needs and aspirations of the communities they serve.
