Through the “Amplifying Community Voices” (ACV) initiative supported by the OAK Foundation, Mukti is actively pursuing the implementation of sustainable livelihood models. Working in collaboration with OAK Foundation’s training partner, Development Research Communication and Service Centre (DRCSC), Mukti has acquired valuable knowledge on the intricacies of saltwater crab cultivation as a sustainable livelihood model. Through the innovative approach of floating crab culture, farmers have been enlightened about the potential for increased profitability when compared to conventional methods.
Mukti’s leadership shines through, as they lead the charge in advancing a cutting-edge and climate-adaptive crab cultivation model within Kuyemuri village, situated under the Heramba Gopalpur Gram Panchayat. This visionary approach aims to ensure sustainability while accommodating the region’s evolving climate patterns. In a span of just three months, Mukti envisions the cultivation of 100 saltwater crabs in each village, marking a significant stride toward economic empowerment and environmental resilience. This remarkable endeavor not only bears the hallmark of Mukti’s commitment to positive change but also underscores the seamless integration of ecological adaptability and local community advancement.
