On the 8th of January, Mukti’s Health team organized an enlightening awareness session at the Sundarban Fair 2024’s central stage.
At the beginning of the program, Sonamon Basu, Mukti Health Program Manager, highlighted Mukti’s multifaceted efforts in the region – relief during calamities, widespread oxygen concentrator distribution during the pandemic, and comprehensive initiatives covering health, environment, women’s welfare, and rural development. She extended her gratitude to Mukti’s Founder-President Sankar Halder and the supporters. The establishment of village clinics and the “Swastho Songini” program involving community health workers was highlighted, focusing on preventive healthcare, education in disease prevention, nutrition, exercise, and hygiene. Basu emphasized the importance of preventive care for early detection, risk reduction, cost-effectiveness, and improved quality of life. It promotes healthy behaviors, prevents diseases, reduces disparities, and contributes to community well-being, fostering peace of mind and productivity. Ultimately, preventive care is crucial for maintaining good health and ensuring longer and healthier lives for individuals and communities alike.
Swastho Songini members presented a compelling drama on community visits, spotlighting issues like anemia. An animated short movie (created by NCERT- in partnership with UNESCO) on Health, Sanitation and Nutrition was displayed for the audience. Two Swastho Songini members performed Yoga demonstrations.
They also showcased 4-5 awareness drives on various diseases, before the audience, covering heart care, child care, mother care, and nutrition.
The Swastho Songini members concluded their program with a harmonious and melodious group song.
