Sponsor-Student Meeting Between Ms. Anuradha Basu Roy and Puspita Kayal

Ms. Anuradha Basu Roy has been associated with Mukti since 2015-16. She is currently sponsoring two Science-stream students under the TSS (Talented Student Sponsorship)program. She was a consultant for the corporate customers of TELSTRA in Sydney, Australia, and is a resident there.

The Mukti TSS team organized an in-person sponsor-student meeting between Ms. Basu Roy and her sponsored students, Puspita Kayal and Krisanu Mondal, on 31st January at the Mukti office in Garia. Ms. Basu Roy arrived at Mukti with her two sisters-in-law. They went around the offices and met all the staff members. While Puspita came with her father, Krisanu Mondal could not attend the meeting due to his semester examinations.

Puspita Kayal is pursuing GNM 2nd year in the School of Nursing, Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata.  Puspita resides at Chak Madhusudanpur in the district of south 24 Parganas in West Bengal. Her family comprises of four members. Her father, the sole bread earner, is a daily-wage farmer. The family manages the daily expenses and Puspita’s educational expenses with great hardship. Her younger brother is studying in the tenth grade. Despite immense hardships, her parents encourage both children to continue their studies.

It was the first time that Ms. BasuRoy and Puspita were meeting. Ms. BasuRoy advised Puspita to concentrate on her studies and pursue her dreams after completing her higher education. Puspita shared her plans for sitting for the NEET exams and the strategy that she had in mind. She was advised not to lose focus on her present nursing course for the sake of NEET preparations.

Puspita’s father attended the meeting and spoke with Ms. Basu Roy about their family history and future plans. He expressed his concern about Puspita’s ill health. Out of compassion, Ms. Basu Roy handed over Rs. 5000 to Puspita to cover her medical expenses and any other needs.

Puspita expressed her immense gratitude to have Ms. Basu Roy beside her.  She effusively thanked Ms. Basu Roy for choosing to sponsor her and assured her that she will live up to her expectations.

The meeting ended on a pleasant note, with the TSS team felicitating Ms. Basu Roy with a flower bouquet.
