Mukti seeks to provide equitable, affordable, and quality health care to rural women, especially vulnerable groups. With this objective Mukti in association with “Kolkata Foundation” is going to initiate a special healthcare project named “Swsatho Songini” (Health partner) for the women folks of Sundarban. To run this project appropriately some efficient women health entrepreneurs or community health workers are needed who will work in association with the local health care system, help people get the care they need, give informal counseling and guidance on health behaviors, advocate for individual and community health needs, provide some direct services such as first aid and so on.
Mukti conducted a community health worker selection test for multiple health-related programs that Mukti is involved with. The test was conducted at Raidighi on 8th November 2022. About 70 MCDF (Mukti Community Development Fund) members of 6 blocks – Mathurapur I & II, Jaynagar I & II, Kultali and Patharpratima – appeared for the written test. The test was designed to measure the applicant’s competency in some basic health rules and health awareness. Following the written test, an interview session will be conducted on 1st December 2022 for all 70 candidates. Of the 70, 24 candidates will be assigned to the “Swastho Songini” program. Four out of the 24 will be designated as supervisors based on a ranking of examination scores and interview performance. Each supervisor will be responsible for supervising a team of five health workers.
After the final selection, CINI (Child in Need Institute) will train the candidates to become efficient health entrepreneurs.
