The speech given by Mr. Sankar Halder –
We have learnt from our seniors and are going on the paths shown by them. The ideology of Swamiji comprises of 4 Margs – Karmajog, Gyanjog, Bhaktijog and Rajjog. With all these 4 Margs Swamiji taught how a human can raise himself to a better person. We appreciate “Bibek Path” the way they are serving the society based on ideology of Swamiji.
He explained the objectives of the social workers and why and how they are different from any other o also thinks for the society. The Government, politicians, activists, common people all think for the society in their own way. The social workers work for the development of the community. Though many are working for the society still there are many critical gaps which are still untouched or unsuccessful. These gaps should be fulfilled. There are two types of social workers – 1) those who work professionally in different sectors, receive good payment but still not satisfied with the code of conduct of their respective fields and for their own life’s fulfillment engaged themselves to social works, 2) those who work for fame.
Now the question is who the social workers are. The Government is formed to govern the society. But if the Government does any wrong while governing society it is the true social workers responsibility to help and guide the Government to choose the right path while showing example. A social worker must not compete the Government but must cooperate with them. A social worker gets recognition not from the present but from the future. A social workers when faces obstacles that means he is in the right way. Sufferings, defeats make a man stronger. This is what Vivekananda wanted to teach us.
There is no right time for social work, be it pandemic or any other disaster. Every renowned social worker experienced troubles at their contemporary time. At our present time we can see how corruption has reached at the very grass root level. History gives evidence that in each time of turmoil one great man arrived in the salvation of mankind. May be in future technology or artificial intelligence will play a vital role in changing society. As for example media had ruled for many years but now social media had ruined their dominance.
Finally he encouraged all by reciting some lines of the poem written by Swami Vivekananda.
