From December onwards Mukti had started to train the MCDF members on organic farming. Last month 138 women participated in the training program. These training programs of Mukti along with “AID” are also meant to create awareness on organic farming.
Worldwide human health is at risk as on one hand people are dying due to scarcity of food, on the other hand they are slowly being poisoned by the chemicals used for growing food. Organic farming is therefore the need of the hour.
Agriculture has been a joint venture of male and female members of the family and being equal contributors in food production. So, it becomes all the more important to involve women while transferring farm technology.
Women since ages have been using many traditional practices such as cow dung, animal urine and farm & animal wastes in agriculture. If women can be educated and trained in using these wastes effectively and efficiently it would help agriculture go the organic way.
Mukti aims to educate rural women on the concepts of organic farming and in using farm and nonfarm wastes as sources of organic material and to make organic manure out of it. Mukti organic Trainers are increasing the knowledge of rural women regarding organic farming through the lectures and demonstrations.
|Date||Venue||Number of Participants|
|05.01.2021||Uttar Debipur Gayer Gheri||55|
|08.01.2021||Uttar Debipur Rathtala||28|
The number of the participants is an indicator of the effectiveness of the intervention of Mukti. Mukti is hopeful that in future days Mukti will be able to bring many women under the training program. Further it is also important that efforts should be made to make women farmers to adopt organic farming because knowledge may not always translate to adoption.
