Since last October, Mukti has made remarkable strides in empowering rural women through the establishment of 150 self-help groups (SHGs) in Egra, DantanI, DantanII, and Kesaria Blocks of Purba and Paschim Medinipur districts. The focus of these SHGs has been on fostering self-reliance through the practice of chick-rearing. By engaging in chick rearing, women are not only able to generate income through the sale of poultry products but also gain valuable knowledge in animal husbandry and entrepreneurship. With the invaluable support of Coal India, Mukti has facilitated the distribution of chicks and provided comprehensive training to these aspiring entrepreneurs. Additionally, the formation of SHGs provides a platform for women to come together, share experiences, and collectively address their socioeconomic challenges. As a result, these SHGs have now flourished, boasting an impressive membership of approximately 1800 women. Through these efforts, Mukti and its partners are not only enabling rural women to unlock their potential but also creating a strong foundation for sustainable growth and economic independence in these communities.
