Farming has always been one of the most important economic activities in the rural areas like Sunderban. Mukti encourages the farmers to opt for organic farming as compared with conventional agriculture. Organic farming uses fewer pesticides, reduces soil erosion, decreases nitrate leaching into groundwater and surface water, and recycles animal wastes back into the farm.
Mukti started the training program for the farmers of Nagendrapur and Kankandighi only. But from this year Mukti has extended the program and included the MCDF members of each branch for organic training. Mukti in association with “AID” organized the training programs for the MCDF members.
Mukti not only trained them but also supported them with seeds, saplings, pesticides, and other supplies. Mukti started the training with the MCDF members of Raidighi Branch. The training program was conducted at 4 no Choddo (14) Rasi village under Raidighi Branch.
The training stared from 22nd December’20 and it will go on. On a 3 day activity, 138 participants joined the training program. The discussion was on bio-manure preparation, organic farming etc.
Mukti has an aim to organize 400 such training programs in one year.
