Financial organizations such as Banks, Insurance companies and Educational Institutions are essential for the public to have access to. During this lockdown phase for Covid 19 as there has been lot of restrictions from govt. so accessing this basic services has been a challenge for a section of people. Some financial organizations are operating with limited staff, they are unable to offer full range of services and social distancing is further inhibiting customers’ walk-ins. Educational institutions are closed for a long time and they will only start operating once they get clearance from Govt. The existing situation is driving organizations to enhance their digital capabilities and extend new services so that customers are not deprived of their services.
This means adapting to a different reality, to set aside inhibitions and embrace technology to fulfill requirements. Though it may force a habit change amongst many but ultimately will augur well for all constituents.
While a certain segment of customers and consumers in metros and large urban towns have fast adopted online transactions for banking , insurance, education etc, many sections of the society such as senior citizens and those who are not so comfortable with technology and rural areas have not been so quick to respond despite an improved data and bandwidth infrastructure. While poor internet connectivity is one of the reasons, a lot of people in rural areas also lack the necessary digital literacy to access these online services.
