Mukti Bought Diesel for the Pond Owners at Kankandighi

Super cyclone Amphan has either damaged or rendered unusable almost all sources of safe drinking water in the country’s most water-stressed coastal areas, leaving thousands without a drop of safe water to drink.

Scores of fresh water ponds in the worst affected villages in coastal areas such as Kankandighi under Raidighi Police Station got heavily contaminated with saline water still gushing through breaches the cyclone has made in coastal embankments more than two weeks ago.

Mukti is helping the pond owners to desalinate the pond water. Mukti bought Diesel for the pond owners to keep the pumps engaged throughout the day. For 15 beneficiaries Mukti bought 365 litre of Diesel which costs Rs. 24,700/-.

This effort of Mukti will help to solve the crisis of drinking water for thousands of people living in that area.
