Mukti Appreciated Mr. Asis Halder for His Social Contribution as Secretary of Mukti, 2015-2021

Mukti appreciated the integral contribution of our honorable Secretary Mr. Asis Halder at the 9 th General Meeting of Mukti. Mr. Madhusudhan Bairagi facilitated the program. Audience greeted Mr. Asis Halder with a standing ovation.

He was associated with Mukti since 2015 and was working as Secretary till then. He sponsored TSS students from the very beginning and still he is supporting 2 students.

He was a very cool but strong minded person and handled the most difficult situation in a very calm and quiet manner. With his excellent efficiency and spirit of doing hard work, he served Mukti for 6 years. His efforts made Mukti to become a large organization.

He said “It’s hard for me to talk in such an emotional moment. In 2006 Sankar invited me to such a general meeting in his house. That time I was unaware of everything. While attending the meeting I came to know about the huge activities of Mukti and I was overwhelmed. That was the beginning and in that meeting for the first time I was selected as a board member. I never thought that I will be a Secretary. I don’t think I was qualified enough to hold the post. Still today I feel that I need to learn more. Before me Mr. Biswanath Mondal was the Secretary. I have learnt from him and he had helped me a lot. After his resignation Mukti selected me as Secretary. Even after the selection I worked under his guidance for 3 months. Sankar, helped me to understand the objectives of Mukti and took me everywhere to make me more familiar with Mukti. I never thought that I will get so involved with Mukti.

I can remember the day I first came to Sunderban. It was Monsoon. I was invited for a meeting in the evening but due to heavy rain I could not returned. Holding the hands of Ragh da and Arabindo da I crossed the muddy paths. I received so much love and affection from my colleagues and seniors that I never looked back.

In 2016-17 Mukti faced a funding problem. There was a time when we failed to pay the employees. But none of them resigned. Without salary they worked happily for 3 months. We overcame the situation. We gradually grew day by day.

Today the respect the love I received from you all is the most significant gift for me. I will treasure it for all of my life. You can buy everything and can’t buy love. If you stay with Mukti you will receive immense love.

I am ending my speech by wishing all of you goodwill.”

His speech made the moment a remembered one for all the family members of Mukti.

As a sign of gratitude, he was gifted a shawl, a memento and a photo frame with collaged pictures of his activities in Mukti with his colleagues.
