Ms. Bishakha Majumder’s Impact on Banhisikha’s Journey

On April 7th, 2024, Mukti TSS team convened a virtual meeting, bringing together Ms. Bishakha Majumder, and her mentored student, Banhisikha Sasmal.

Ms. Bishakha, previously a resident of Edinburgh, Scotland, moved to Northern Virginia, USA as a technology professional at Cogent Communications two years ago. It is here that she connected with Mukti in 2022-23. Mukti extends heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Majumder for her commitment to supporting Banhisikha in her pursuit of her dreams.

Banhisikha resides with her family, consisting of her parents and elder sister, in Kailaspur village, Raidighi. With her father tending to farming duties and her mother managing the household, Banhisikha’s elder sister is also engaged in pursuing her BA studies. Despite the financial constraints, Banhisikha shines as a bright student. Having recently appeared for her Higher Secondary exams with a science stream from Kedarpur Ramnanda High School, she is now diligently preparing for the NEET examination, driven by her aspiration to become a doctor and serve the underprivileged in her community.

Banhisikha’s pursuit of this dream necessitated financial support beyond her family’s means. With optimism and hope, she reached out to Mukti TSS for sponsorship, and her fortune smiled upon her when chosen by Ms. Majumder.

During their virtual encounter, Ms. Bishakha queried Banhisikha about her motivations for pursuing medicine. Banhisikha passionately expressed her desire to serve the impoverished in her locality, highlighting her humble background and her family’s struggles. She emphasized the importance of the scholarship in ensuring her educational journey’s smooth progression, and pledged to pay it forward by contributing to society once established in her career.

Moved by Banhisikha’s determination and resilience, Ms. Majumder commended her zeal and pledged untiring support throughout her academic and professional endeavors, underscoring the transformative impact of education and service to society.
