Vegetable seed assistance has been provided to 526 tribal families of 8 villages of Nagendrapur and Kanknadighi GP under Mathurapur block II (primarily, the tribal communities Munda, Santhal, Bhumij and Oraon) those are living on the saline river boundary, most of whom are landless or are migrant laborers and the poor families living along the main road, who do not receive basic nutrition for most of the day.
Vegetable seeds like Beans, Radishes, Red Amaranth, Pumpkin, Coriander and vegetable seedlings like Chili, Beetroot, Cauliflower, Turnip, Tomato etc. are being distributed.
In addition to distributing seeds and saplings, training is also being imparted on how to cultivate them organically. As a result, they are able to meet their food needs by producing non-toxic vegetables.
Namita Mudi, Manasi Munda, Rina Munda, Champa Mudi said “We are thankful to MUKTI and “Give India” to help landless helpless people like us with vegetables saplings and seeds. With the help of these seeds and seedlings, we will be able to create our own vegetable garden. We will cultivate and produce non-toxic vegetables in the same way that we have been taught by MUKTI by adopting organic methods. On the one hand, as we will be healthy, on the other, we will not have to buy vegetables from the market at a higher price. We hope that MUKTI will be with us in this way in the future as well.”
