On May 3rd, 2024, the Mukti Talented Student Sponsorship (TSS) program organized a virtual meeting with Dr. Ranitendranath Tagore and two students, Champa Parvin and Tripti Lal.
Dr. Ranitendranath Tagore (Ranit) has been associated with Mukti since 2004 and has been a dedicated sponsor in the TSS program since 2013. Ranit obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Presidency University (Kolkata), IIT-Bombay, and Yale University, respectively. After a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University, he served as an R&D functional lead in the bio-pharmaceutical industry for over ten years before deciding to move away from the corporate world. He currently consults independently for pharmaceutical and drug discovery organizations and pursues his passion for music through learning, teaching, and performances. He is deeply moved by the inspiring stories of Mukti’s beneficiaries, volunteers, and workers, and considers it a privilege to be able to contribute to the journey of TSS students.
Champa Parvin is a third-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy student at IPGME & R and SSKM Hospital. She lives in South Dinajpur, and her father, is a daily laborer, struggles to cover her educational expenses. The TSS scholarship is crucial for her higher studies. Champa aspires to complete a Master’s in Physiotherapy and secure a job in the future. Ranit was delighted to hear about her ambitions and assured her of his support, encouraging her to reach out whenever needed.
Tripti Lal is a second-year B.A. student at Taki Government College. She lives in Bhowanipur, North 24 Parganas, and dreams of enrolling in a G.N.M. nursing course and securing a government job. Tragically, Tripti lost her mother to kidney failure and a brain tumor when she was just seven years old, and her father died in an accident shortly after. She has been living with her impoverished uncle, who cannot afford her educational expenses. In 2022, she applied for the TSS scholarship and was fortunate to be selected. Tripti expressed her deep gratitude for his support, and Ranit was pleased to hear about her progress, offering valuable advice for her future.
Mukti extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tagore for his untiring support and dedication to nurturing young talent through the TSS program. His commitment has made a significant impact on the lives of these students, enabling them to pursue their dreams despite their challenges.
