On September 24, 2023, Mukti distributed Eisenia Fetida earthworms, commonly used for vermicompost production, to 27 organic farmers from Nagendrapur and Kankandighi. Each farmer received 750 grams of these earthworms, consisting of approximately 2,500 to 3,000 individual worms, which are expected to enable the production of 350 kilograms of vermicompost every year.
Following the distribution of earthworms, the beneficiaries received essential training on the intricacies of maintaining the health and vitality of the worms, the proper feeding practices, and the techniques involved in creating a successful vermicompost pit. Mukti hopes to harness the full potential of vermicomposting to promote sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture in the region through this holistic approach of providing knowledge and skills along with material resources.
