Hello and welcome to everyone present. Freedom is the state of being free from the control of any person, country, or entity. Our country, India, gained freedom from foreign rule on August 15, 1947. Although our country is independent, we have not yet achieved complete freedom. Now, we need freedom to be physically, mentally, and socially well. This is what we must strive to achieve.
Today, I must mention a troubling incident in our independent country. We have heard that a junior doctor was brutally raped and murdered during her duty at RG Kar Medical College Hospital. What kind of freedom is this? For us to be socially well, society itself must be healthy.
We always say that being well means being physically, mentally, and socially healthy. To be mentally well, we need to be aware of mental health issues. Similarly, to be physically well, we need education about diseases. We must know how to protect ourselves from illness and where to find health services. In other words, health education is a must.
To promote health awareness, Mukti has launched a program and established a Health Wing. Health workers are working to increase awareness. It is essential to remember that good health means being well in all aspects—physical, mental, and social. And this freedom does not come easily; it must be earned. Each of us needs to play a role in this. We need to spread the health education we receive to everyone. Mothers play a significant role in keeping society healthy. Educating children from a young age and teaching respect for women are also signs of mental well-being. Simply taking medicine is not enough to ensure health.
In conclusion, to be physically, mentally, and socially well, we need knowledge, health education, and training. Stay well, everyone. Thank you.
