Devasting rains and 155km/h strong winds of Cyclone Bulbul not only affected the lives of the villagers in Sunderban, but also had an adverse effect on their health. Even after two weeks of the storm, many families are facing health issues and are in need of medical attention.
In a series of medical camps organised by Mukti in different villages of Kakdwip, Sunderban, doctors are expected to treat over 3500 patients, in a span of 15 days.
After the success of the first day of the medical camp conducted by Mukti in the Namkhana Block, 22nd November saw us conducting day two at Bakkhali. Due to the loss of houses and absence of adequate drinking water, many of the residents are facing stomach ailments and other health problems.
Of the 195 patients diagnosed and treated by the doctors, it has been noted that some of them had sustained injuries during the storm. Doctors have dressed the minor injuries and proper medical supplies were provided to them. The patients suffering from stomach problems, including many aged and children, have been prescribed medicines and provided with the required doses. Apart from that, patients were also diagnosed and treated for skin diseases, common cold, fever and some gynaecological troubles due to the lack of proper sanitation.
We, at Mukti, are putting our best foot forward to help these families in need. Any support and contribution will help us to extend more support to those in distress. Please come forward to help us, help them!
