Cyclone Remal wreaked havoc on the Sundarbans, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The traditional mud houses and semi-pucca houses, which characterize the region, suffered extensive damage due to strong winds and heavy rainfall. Among the 45,000 affected houses, some were completely flattened, while others were left precariously standing with collapsed walls and roofs. The forceful winds and heavy rains eroded the foundations, making the homes uninhabitable. As a result, 45,000 families across 15 blocks were displaced, struggling to find shelter and protect their remaining possessions. The loss of these homes not only signifies a material loss but also leaves the communities grappling with uncertainty and hardship.
