Mr. Partha Mitra, the President of the “Agomoni” organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA, visited Mukti on August 26th and 27th, 2023. His primary aim was to connect with the students of the Mukti-AgomoniKishalaya School in Kultali, South 24 Parganas, and the members of the Mukti Community Development Fund (MCDF) in the Digambarpur branch. He was accompanied by Mr. Madhusudan Bairagi, a senior member of the Mukti Board of Directors.
On August 26th, Mr. Mitra met with the students of the Agomoni-supported Kishalaya School in Kultali, which serves as an after-school support center for primary school students. The school plays a crucial role in providing supplementary lessons in subjects like Math and English to local children who might otherwise lack access to such education. During his visit, he also took the time to visit other local Mukti Kishalaya Schools. After interacting with the students and teachers, he expressed deep gratitude and happiness at Agomoni’s partnership with Mukti and at their commitment to supporting the children of the local community.
On the morning of August 27th, Mr. Mitra toured Mukti Gram – PurbaSridharpur, where he closely observed the construction process and the objectives behind creating cyclone-tolerant model houses. He was genuinely impressed by the grassroots efforts of the local community leaders in various projects, including soil erosion prevention, flood protection, village beautification, and the operation of a medical clinic providing free medicine and ambulance services.
After inspecting the remarkable work at Mukti Gram, he proceeded to meet with the MCDF members of the Digambarpur branch in Raidighi. During the meeting, he discussed about the various groups operating within the Digambarpur branch and their initiatives. The meeting, attended by 15 individuals, including MCDF members, MCDF staff, and Mukti volunteers, left him impressed with Mukti’s ability to mobilize thousands of local women volunteers and workers, creating a network of projects focused on women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and health awareness. He attended a teacher’s training program and visited the MIT center to witness how Mukti is assisting local youth in technical training.
Voicing his praise for Mukti, Mr. Mitra said, “I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to witness Mukti’s grassroots operations, which are undoubtedly making a significant difference by reaching out to those who truly need assistance at their doorstep.”
