Twice a year, Mukti extends its support to organic farmers by providing them with seasonal vegetable seeds. This October, Mukti distributed winter vegetable seeds to 750 organic farmers residing in eight villages across Nagendrapur and Kankandighi Gram Panchayats. The objective of the program is to create a more sustainable and prosperous farming community while promoting organic agriculture and improving the overall quality of agricultural produce in the region.
Each farmer received a carefully selected variety of vegetable seeds tailored to their specific crops. These farmers are dedicated members of Mukti’s organic farming network, each tending to their own plots of land. A month prior to the distribution, an extensive survey was conducted to ascertain each farmer’s preferences and requirements. This involved collecting names, procuring the appropriate seeds, and ensuring proper packaging. This meticulous process guaranteed a smooth distribution.
An impressive array of 31 vegetable types, including exotic varieties, was distributed. Among these, were staples like cabbage, bitter gourd, beans, spinach, radish, turnip, cauliflower, tomato, carrot, beet, chili, eggplant, peas, broccoli, capsicum, and cherry tomatoes, besides the exotic varieties.
This initiative is part of a series of such initiatives by Mukti towards nurturing organic farming and empowering local farmers for a sustainable and prosperous future.
