A free medical camp on Gynecological issues aimed at providing essential healthcare services to women, was organized by Mukti on 8th December 2024 at Bangalpur Kalimata Bayam Samity. The camp was supported by ‘Epic Agro Products Pvt. Ltd’.
The camp was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Timir Baran Mazumdar, a renowned gynecologist from Shusrusha Nursing Home, Kolkata, who led a team of efficient support staff for diagnosis and treatment of the patients. The team included Ms. Juhi Dey (Assistant), and Mr. Biplab Roy (Assistant). Ms. Sonamon Basu (Programme Manager, Mukti), Mr. Bidyut Sanpui (Project Coordinator, Mukti), and Mr. Atanu Ghoshal (Volunteer, Mukti) were also present at the camp.
The primary objective of the camp was to provide free health checkups, medical advice, and medication for various chronic ailments affecting women. In addition, awareness programme and counselling on women’s health were conducted. Dr. Mazumdar with his vast experience in the field helped diagnose common gynecological issues such as irregular menstrual cycles, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, painful intercourse, back-pain, pregnancy complications, and white discharge. Truly acknowledging the fact that awareness on basic health care is the key to prevention and cure of many complicated gynecological disorders, Dr. Mazumdar emphasized on the need of monitoring basic health parameters at regular intervals and advised his team for recording data such as weight, blood pressure, pulse, and CBG (capillary blood glucose) for the patients.
Free medicines were distributed to the attendees, ensuring that they received the necessary treatment for their health concerns. A total of 51 women benefitted from the camp, with many reporting relief and receiving guidance on managing their conditions.
The event was made possible by the collaborative efforts of various individuals and organizations. The Bangalpur Panchayat member, Mr. Kusal Kumar Mondal, played an important role in the coordination of the event, alongside the tireless support of Mr. Bidyut Sanpui, the Project Coordinator at Mukti. Volunteers from the Bangalpur Kalimata Bayam Samity also played a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the camp.
This camp is part of Mukti’s ongoing efforts to ensure that healthcare services reach everyone, particularly those in underserved areas. The camp concluded with a sense of accomplishment, as women left with better knowledge of their health conditions and the necessary medications to improve their well-being. Mukti’s commitment to community health and welfare continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
