Mentorship in Motion: Debjyoti and Mr. Roy’s Virtual Meeting

On April 13, 2024, the TSS team organized a virtual gathering, bringing together student Debjyoti Naskar and his sponsor, Mr. Satyajit Roy, for the very first time. With Mr. Roy assuming sponsorship for Debjyoti from the academic year 2023–2024 onwards, their meeting marked the beginning of an enriching partnership.

Mr. Satyajit Roy stands as a cornerstone within the MUKTI organization, boasting over a decade of dedicated service as one of its founding members. Alongside his role as an IT Consultant at an Indian MNC, Mr. Roy has undertaken various pivotal responsibilities within MUKTI, embodying a steadfast commitment to its mission.

Mukti extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Satyajit Roy for his generous sponsorship of Debjyoti, enabling him to pursue his educational aspirations despite financial challenges.

Debjyoti Naskar, currently pursuing MBBS 3rd year professional part-I at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, Park Circus, hails from a modest background. Raised in Jaynagar, South 24 Parganas, he is a single child. With his father as the family’s sole breadwinner, and his mother juggling household duties alongside the burden of education expenses, Debjyoti’s journey to pursue his medical aspirations has been arduous yet resolute.

Driven by an innate desire to contribute to society, Debjyoti’s unwavering determination led him to pursue a career in medicine. Despite facing challenges, he persevered, successfully clearing the NEET exam after completing his Higher Secondary education.

The virtual meeting between Debjyoti and Mr. Roy unfolded as an enlightening exchange, spanning a considerable duration. Mr. Roy shared invaluable insights garnered from his rich experience, elucidating the pathways to success, the significance of societal contribution, and strategies for navigating adversities. Emphasizing the importance of mentorship and guidance, Mr. Roy pledged ongoing support, committing to regular interactions every two to three months, or as frequently as necessary, to nurture Debjyoti’s growth and development.

Debjyoti expressed his gratitude to Mr. Roy by saying, “Thank you for believing in me and for your continued support. With your mentorship, I am confident in my ability to make a positive impact in society and to honor the trust you have placed in me.”
